Well ain't this a bitch....
As for most of us, work displaces online racing and well....I will be turning tricks instead of racing in the season opener, yea, ain't it a bitch.
There is a very slim chance that the time frames will mesh and I can get home in time to race, but I doubt it.
Hate to start the season that way but, what to do. This is a five-day gig for me that no way I could say no to.
Anyways, we have a good MOD to drive in 2010, a new season, new strategies to play out, new doods driving (I do miss cash and rod though, being in the middle of that Honda sandwich usually turned me on

). This is going to be a great season for USF1.
Even if I cannot make this race lets start the season off with a great race. Last year's early races were marred by some silly turn 1/ first lap incidents.
Guys be patient for the first lap or two. Your fellow racers are going to have a lot more respect for you if you drive smart in the opening laps.
Not at all to take away from any of the very good, awesome drivers that I have been able to drive with over the years, but I will use KC as an example.
KC is the real deal, fast, consistent, confident, solid and did I mention fast. But he starts slow, well KC's slow is not really slow, but his first lap or two will be about .5 to 1second off his race pace usually. This on some tracks puts him in my sights for overtaking early on. I generally get a pretty good hole shot off the line and a couple of times a season I can get a run going on KC in the first few corners, most of the time not and he or Glyn or Kerlan are motoring away, but on those few tracks each season where for whatever reason, the particular track suits my attempts at racing and I am strong, it is what keeps me doing this.
But there is this knowledge, or link, or understanding, or whatever it is, this sense of which driver has the position, the momentum, or WTH ever it is to be in the position and the other driver will give and let it happen, it is just smart guys. A pass is made most of the time, before....the pass is made. If I have a solid hard run going KC will not let me by, but he does not drive the battle to the apex either if I show an advantage. We as drivers have to determine before the corner turn in, who should be where and why. Some corners will allow more of a battle to unfold and some corners less, but as most guys who have done this for very long know, usually the first few turns allow even less. CT/CB, cold tires/cold brakes allow for less of a battle. Race each other, but respect each other. Passes are often not such a dominant drive right by kinda thing, but more of a game of chicken between two (or more) drivers, who is going to lift and brake first. Fun, good stuff, but it is not fun when it ends the race right there.
Let the race happen, if someone is asleep on the start, take their ass and pass 'em, but if you are wheel to wheel going into the first corner of the race know before you get there that someone should give way or it may not be a very long race. Earn respect by driving smart and driving to finish.
Lets have a great season in the USF1.
